Mimic Octopus – a great way to end your holiday
When British couple Janet Parker and Paul Dale visited Atmosphere in July, they were lucky enough to get the Divemaster to themselves a lot of the time, and it surely paid off. Janet is a keen underwater photographer, and despite some strobe-issues, she captured most of our critters during her two weeks of diving.
During one of the last days, our Divemaster Lemi found the rare mimic octopus and Janet got a great shot of it. |

And the Spa construction goes on…
Even though we are not opening our new Spa until December 1, many of the buildings and features are already in place. The main building is rising up behind the bamboo fence, as are the four massage pavilions. The circular pool, as well as the streams, waterfalls and the landscaping are well on their way. To give you an idea of how the Spa is laid out, have a look at this master plan.

Romantic Atmosphere
Is your idea of a romantic evening a seaside dinner at dusk with flaming torches, the scent of beautiful flowers, candles, specially prepared food and selected wines for the occasion and a little bit of privacy? Ask to have your dinner served in our beach pavilion and we will set it up to make it extra special.

Football World cup - also in Atmosphere
When we realized in the first week of June that the Football World Cup would be on television, but not on any of our cable channels, a frantic few days followed while we got the cable-tv company to set it up for us and a projector and big screen installed in the bar. Many of us were seen bleary eyed in the mornings, since most games were played around midnight our time! Visitors from other resorts also came to enjoy the games, drinking beer and betting on the results. |

Atmosphere now speaks German and Swiss!
In May Atmosphere welcomed a new full time instructor to the dive team, Cornel “Windy” Windhofer, from Switzerland. He has previously worked in Boracay in the Philippines and will now trade in his ski jumping (yes, it’s true!) and snow boarding for coral reefs. Under water, Cornel is still hoping to see a mermaid, but in the meantime he loves looking at seahorses. Our Swedish instructor Ulrika will still be teaching when we get busy, but has moved from the dive shop to a position as Brand and Innovation manager with among other things web marketing, PR and communication on her table.

Victoria gets an overhaul
Our pride and joy, dive boat extraordinaire Victoria, was dry docked in May for her yearly overhaul. When she comes back in June she will not only have a new layer of paint, but Dive Shop Manager Rae has ensured there will be new camera facilities more shade and a private changing area. And maybe a wind screen for our Captain Marvin!

Allard returns
The month of May saw the return of our number one returning guest: Allard van der Graaf with wife Emma and daughter Lexie from Hong Kong. As always, Allard brought his camera along and took fantastic pictures of our marine life by benefiting from the gorgeous weather and flat seas. Among the critters to catch his eye were the hairy frogfish, blue ringed octopus and flamboyant cuttlefish. Daughter Lexie just turned 8 years old and got to do some scuba diving herself by completing the PADI Bubblemaker with Ulrika.

Staff learns to dive
As part of Atmosphere’s goal to support the local community, we believe that the more people within Atmosphere who dive the better it is. These last two months, Arjay (boat crew) completed both his Advanced course and his Rescue course, Lily Fe (guest relations officer) finished her Advanced course and Harold (dive shop) started his Advanced course. Six members of staff, from maintenance, gardening and dive shop, also completed their PADI Discover Scuba Diving.

Chloe - A new member of the Atmosphere Family
In April, Atmosphere owners Gaby and Matt Holder welcomed a little Chloe to their family. So far she is still a little too young to dive and help her parents with the management of the resort, but she’ll get there! And as you can see, big brother Ethan keeps a watchful eye on little sister.
