Best known for exceptional scuba diving and the friendliness of its people, the Philippine archipelago is comprised of 7,107 tropical islands situated in South East Asia between the Philippine Sea and the South China Sea. Although the country's terrain is an interesting mix of natural resources, it is the magnificent sanctuary beneath the sparkling waters that provide a plethora of wonders, earning a reputation as one of the world's best diving destinations. Coral fringed islands carry some of the world's most diverse eco systems, offering a truly memorable underwater experience to snorkelers and divers alike.

Atmosphere is located near the coastal town of Dauin, in the south east region of Negros Oriental, Philippines. The neighbouring islands of Cebu, Bohol and Siquijor frame magnificent views of sunrise whilst Apo Island, one of the Philippines best scuba diving destinations, harbouring a national marine reserve, is just a short boat ride away. The uneven silhouette of the Twin Horn Mountains on Negros provides a stunning vista whilst the endless stretch of silver sand alongside the inviting blue sea is an ideal place to relax and enjoy your luxury resort holiday.

The climate of the Philippines is generally tropical, typically characterized by high temperatures and high humidity. There are only two seasons: the dry season which runs from December to May and is considered the peak season and the low season running from June to November and covers slightly wetter months. At Atmosphere the high season brings moderate sea states and on shore breezes and the low season has glass-flat sea states and minimal wind. The coolest month falls in January and the hottest, in May.

Water temperatures vary slightly between 26-30 degrees, thus all types of aqua sports including scuba diving and snorkelling can be enjoyed all-year round. Cooler water temperatures are experienced during the high-peak season. For scuba diving, 3mm long wet suits would be most comfortable. Off peak season enjoys warmer waters and diving without wetsuits within these months is not uncommon.

The Philippines has two major internationals hubs, the capital city Metro Manila in the north and Cebu City in the central Visayas region.
From Metro Manila
Upon landing at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Metro Manila, transfer to the domestic terminal and then a direct flight can be taken to Dumaguete City which is a short 30 minute journey from Atmosphere. Both Philippine Airlines and Cebu Pacific Airlines fly the Manila to Dumaguete route twice daily with a total travel time of one hour and ten minutes. For international flights arriving in Manila before mid-day, same-day connecting flights to Dumaguete are available.

On landing at the Dumaguete City Airport our reliable personnel will be standing by to transport you to Atmosphere in a private vehicle so sit back and enjoy the scenic views during the short 30 minute ride to Atmosphere.

Reservations can be done online or the Atmosphere team will be more than happy to assist and organise flight bookings and transfers.

From Cebu City
Upon your arrival at Mactan International Airport you can connect easily with your domestic flight for a short 40 minute flight direct to Dumaguete City. Cebu Pacific Air fly from Cebu to Dumaguete and Dumaguete to Cebu in the mornings on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. You can book yourself online or our personnel will organize everything for you.

Another option is to travel by road. Taxi's will take you to Liloan Port where the ferry can sail you across to Negros Island and Atmosphere personnel will welcome you and bring you to the resort in our private vehicle. Alternatively you can be greeted at the Mactan International Airport by one of our representatives who will escort you all the way to Atmosphere in the comfort of your own vehicle. If you are one who relishes sightseeing and a bit of adventure, then this route is ideal as it involves a 3 hour roadside journey allowing you to take in breathtaking views of the sea.

Mimic Octopus – a great way to end your holiday

July 01st, 2010

When British couple Janet Parker and Paul Dale visited Atmosphere in July, they were lucky enough to get the Divemaster to themselves a lot of the time, and it surely paid off. Janet is a keen underwater photographer, and despite some strobe-issues, she captured most of our critters during her two weeks of diving.

And the Spa construction goes on…

July 15th, 2010

Even though we are not opening our new Spa until December 1, many of the buildings and features are already in place. The main building is rising up behind the bamboo fence, as are the four massage pavilions. The circular pool, as well as the streams, waterfalls and the landscaping are well on their way. To give you an idea of how the Spa is laid out, have a look at this master plan.

Football World cup - also in Atmosphere!

June 28th, 2010

IWhen we realized in the first week of June that the Football World Cup would be on television, but not on any of our cable channels, a frantic few days followed while we got the cable-tv company to set it up for us and a projector and big screen installed in the bar. Many of us were seen bleary eyed in the mornings, since most games were played around midnight our time! Visitors from other resorts also came to enjoy the games, drinking beer and betting on the results.

Atmosphere now speaks German and Swiss!

June 01st, 2010 2:00pm

In May Atmosphere welcomed a new full time instructor to the dive team, Cornel “Windy” Windhofer, from Switzerland. He has previously worked in Boracay in the Philippines and will now trade in his ski jumping (yes, it’s true!) and snow boarding for coral reefs. Under water, Cornel is still hoping to see a mermaid, but in the meantime he loves looking at seahorses. Our Swedish instructor Ulrika will still be teaching when we get busy, but has moved from the dive shop to a position as Brand and Innovation manager with among other things web marketing, PR and communication on her table.
